Iso propyl alcohol, commonly known as fire wine, at room temperature andpressure is a colorless flammable liquid with a strong odor, the molecular formula isC3H80. Iso propyl alcohol is the simplest secondary alcohol and is one of theisoforms of propyl alcohol.
It has an odor similar to ethanol and ace tone mixture, which is slightly bitter andflammable. Can be miscible with water, ethanol, ether and chlor oform, insoluble insalt solution. It can form azeotropic mixture with water (containing 12.3% water).Peroxides are easy to form.
